Please note the Postmaster’s House is a heritage home in downtown St. John’s, NL. All guest rooms are reached by stairs; there is no elevator. The location of St. John’s is such that we endure hot summer days only for a very short period each year. Due to this, and due to municipal heritage regulations, there is no A/C in the house. We enjoy the salt sea breeze and each room is equipped with a fan for air circulation.

Guaranteed Reservations

Reservations made using a valid credit card are automatically guaranteed, and a one-night charge will be applied to your credit card.

 

Check-in/Check-out

Check-in time is from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Outside this time, you will receive a self-check-in email. If you require us to meet you outside the check in time, a $45 charge will be applied to your bill.

 

If your party arrives earlier and the room is not available at the time of arrival, we will do our best to store your bags so you can enjoy your day in the St. John’s/Mount Pearl area.

 

Check-out time is for 11:00 am the day of departure.

We accept Visa and Mastercard, as well as cash, and e-Transfers

Taxes

HST in Newfoundland and Labrador is 15%. There is also a St. John’s Accommodation Tax of 4%.

 

Pet Policy

We do not allow pets at Postmaster’s House. We do offer pet options at our nearby sister property https://www.parkavenue suites.ca/

 

Damages

Any type of loss or damage to items in the room or any public space will result in a charge that will be at the discretion of management.

 

Non-Smoking Policy

The Postmaster’s House is a non-smoking property. Smoking in the house will result in a cleaning fee of $250.00 CAD, and continued noncompliance will result in dismissal from the property.

 

Lost and Found

We will make every effort to retrieve and hold any items accidentally left behind for up to 30 days. After that period has passed, and the item remains unclaimed, it is disposed of. The guest is responsible for the shipping cost and customs fees (where applicable) for the return of lost & found items.

 

Any items left in or next to the garbage bins are considered refuse and will be discarded. We are not responsible for items that appear to be for disposal. Guests are encouraged to avoid confusion by placing all items in the drawers and cabinets provided, or in their luggage.

Cancellation Policy

Guaranteed reservations must be cancelled 14 days prior to arrival date to avoid cancellation penalties. Reservations cancelled within the 14 day period are non-refundable, without exception.

Any cancellation, anytime, will be subject to a $30 cancellation fee.

Our main purpose in collecting your personal information is to provide you with a streamlined experience in making reservations at Postmasters House Bed and Breakfast. We only collect information about you that we consider necessary for achieving this. Personally identifiable information is only obtained when making a reservation. All identifiable information provided will not be disclosed to anyone unless we are specifically requested to do so. Postmasters House Bed and Breakfast does not give or sell to anyone any information we collect on our site.

We sometimes use data collection devices such as “cookies” on certain pages of the Site to measure effectiveness and safety. A “cookie” is a small file that gets placed on your harddrive that helps us provide our services. You are free to decline cookies if you choose to.

Security

At Postmasters House Bed and Breakfast, we take security seriously. When users make a reservation we use every precaution to safe guard it online and offline.

Your payment and personal information is always safe. Our Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software is the industry standard and encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read over the internet.
